Permanent exhibitions

Pointe-du-Buisson present four unique permanent exhibitions showcasing the richness of the site.

Voices from the past

Voices from the past: Pointe-du-Buisson, her story of the land, is an exhibition in which archaeological research meets Original People’s perspectives. Enjoy a chronological tour of the prehistory of the Pointe-du-Buisson site, starting more than 5,000 years ago.

Laboratory

Pointe-du-Buisson’s Laboratory is a must for anyone interested in the sciences of archaeology. It is a place where everyone can learn about archaeology, its related sciences and the scientific process. There, you can access the laboratory-reserve, where 4,000 of the finest objects in the Pointe-du-Buisson collection are on display. Come and experience the exciting life of an archaeologist!

Discovery Hall

The Discovery Hall is a unique location. Situated at the tip of the Pointe-du-Buisson, it is the best place to discover the richness of the site. Thanks to experimental archaeology, you'll be able to experience the way of life of the Original Peoples who walked this land for thousands of years. You will be able to handle reproductions of artifacts designed using the materials and ancestral techniques of these peoples. Weather permitting, you can take part in a simulated archaeological dig at the Zone Archéo. Everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience, performing the same gestures and techniques as archaeologists in their work.

Family Hall

The Family Hall is a place thought for children aged 0 to 5. It is dedicated to helping children discover cultural heritage through games that encourage reading, writing and mathematics, in an environment adapted for toddlers. The Family Hall is as much an exhibition as it is a playroom. Here you will find real artifacts, wooden reproductions, toys and even a tree shaped climbing wall. Finally, there's a changing and nursing area for the whole family to enjoy their visit comfortably. We look forward to welcoming tomorrow's archaeologists!

Paleontological Hall

The Paleontological Hall, inaugurated in October 2009, hosts a permanent exhibition on Cambrian paleontology. The fossil traces on display are over 500 million years old and are undoubtedly among the largest invertebrate traces ever discovered in Quebec. Come and admire these fossil traces and learn a little more about this science, which is often confused with archaeology. This project was made possible thanks to the great collaboration of Mr. Pierre Groul
